Bad driving decisions take lives

Utah has suffered one of its worst Fourth of July weekends in the past twenty years with at least 11 confirmed traffic deaths over the holiday weekend.

There were two major accidents. The first happened on Interstate 80 when Paul Mumford of West Jordan for some reason drove on the wrong side of the road and hit an SUV being driven by Jose Adame-Orozco of Farmington.

The three passengers in the SUV were killed at the scene and they were Delphine John, 44 and her two daughters aged 19 and 3. Mumford has now been charged with murder, manslaughter and driving under the influence.

The second accident, which happened on Route 191, involved a sports car and a minivan with one of the vehicles trying to pass without there being sufficient space. The result was a head on collision and the sports car burst into flames killing both occupants. Four people in the minivan were killed.
